Choteau Soroptimists' need your help in the Fight for Hope and Freedom. The Soroptimists' are helping sponsor the 2014 Mansfield Conference on "Human Trafficking, Montana and the World", April 16-17.
One of the major Soroptimists International of the Americas projects is to stop Human Trafficking. In the US, estimates project over 17,000 people are being trafficked. traffickers around the world are collectively earning $32 billion a year. In 2013, the Montana state legislature and the State Attorney General's office took action to expand local laws, strengthen enforcement and increase awareness.
In conjunction with this program the Soroptimists organizations are sponsoring a "Free the Girl's" campaign. They collect new and used bras that are combined with others in the state and shipped overseas, then given to girls to sell to help them earn an income and stay out of "trafficking".
The Soroptimists' are asking businesses to set up a collection box and individuals to drop off their items at the local Choteau Activities Full Circle Turn Around Shop on Main Street. Collections will be accepted until April 13.
